Naturally, we are fully compliant with food safety legislation and globally recognised food safety standards including BRC and HACCP. We also comply with other industry and customer codes of practice, as specified by our clients.
As well as working to the stringent EU food safety regulations, we are approved to export products to markets in the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia and Canada. But to become leaders in our industry, we wanted to go further. To do that, we created FOOD PLUS+. This enhanced approach to food safety is evident at every step of our product journey.
Our enhanced food safety & quality system
To protect you, your brands and your consumers, we apply our own proprietary safety system to the production of all our food ingredients. It’s a forensic approach that we call FOOD PLUS+. It utilises cutting-edge scientific methods to guarantee the integrity of all the finished product that leaves our premises. We do more, so that you, our customers, can be assured of the products that are entering all of your facilities and your outlets.
Facilities & People
Proactive risk reduction
All our products are ready-to-eat as soon as they leave our production lines. Our state-of-the-art production facilities are designed to give you the product “right first time”. To make this happen, we have committed significant investment in our premises, equipment, technology and our people, with food safety at the core. Our application of biosecurity puts the ready-to-eat production areas and staff inside successive hygienic zones that cover people, product, ingredients, consumables, equipment and parts.
Keeping a close eye on things
We constantly verify the safety and integrity of our products through comprehensive microbiological- and species-surveillance (DNA) systems, using techniques developed in conjunction with our external panel of food safety experts. We also maintain surveillance of what is happening beyond our doors in the world of food safety, animal health, and academic and industrial research, sharing what we learn with our own teams and with our customers.

We like to say that great ingredients make great food. That’s why we insist on robust traceability, segregation, product control, provenance and animal welfare from our suppliers. For our protein inputs, we only work with approved suppliers from selected countries of origin, and we customise our supply chains as required to meet the stringent needs of our customers.

Our scientists and practitioners exchange knowledge and expertise through our research partnership with the Centre for Food Safety, University College Dublin (UCD), where our panel of experts sit and provide access to a global network of resources.
