Food Safety & Quality

At Dawn Farms, an established culture of continuous improvement exists throughout the business. Food Safety, traceability, consistent quality and reliability are central to our philosophy. Stringent hygiene conditions and standards are enforced in Dawn Farms to ensure that all our clients receive their products, in optimum condition.

Food Safety Systems

Dawn Farms two custom built facilities operate to EU & USDA Standards.

Dawn Farm Foods operates a robust Food Safety Management system and our primary objective is to ensure that we deliver consistent safe ingredients to our customers. This is achieved using Hazard Analysis Critical Control (HACCP) approach. Quality criteria for manufactured products are established through product development and integrated into the associated process through HACCP management and staff training.

Traceability is achieved through meticulous batch coding of all materials used in the process.

BRC Global Standard - Food (Issue 4)

The benchmark for food safety management, this Food Standard has been extensively upgraded to reflect revised EU legislation and continuous best practice requirements. It is now in its 4th issue. The Standard possesses a comprehensive scope covering all areas of product safety and legality. It addresses part of the due diligence requirements of both the supplier and the retailer.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) covers such critical topics as:
  • HACCP system
  • Quality management
  • Factory environment standard product and process control

BRC was created to establish a standard for the supply of food products and to act as key piece of evidence to demonstrate 'due diligence' in the face of potential prosecution by the enforcement authorities.

ISO 9001:2000

The ISO Quality Management system certification demonstrates Dawn Farms commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. ISO 9001:2000 is based on the eight quality management principles of customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach, continual improvement, fact-based decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.

University College Dublin and Food Safety

Dawn Farms formed a strategic alliance in 2005 with the School of Food Science and Public Safety in University College Dublin. This was in recognition of the important role Food Safety plays in today's industry and in particular its importance to global brands. Brand protection for our customers is the ultimate objective.

This partnership with UCD allows Dawn Farms to continue its ongoing commitment to Food Safety, and to carry out development work in this priority business function.
